The Resource Directory is a partial list of the resources available in our community, and is meant to be a starting point to help you identify services and providers. Please note that Safe+Sound Somerset cannot vouch for any of these resources. Search websites, ask for recommendations from friends and peers, and call or email a potential service provider to decide whether or not something is the right fit for you.

1-to-1 Online Peer Support Chat – LGBTQ+ National Help Center
Anonymous and confidential space online to connect with a trained LGBTQIA+ peer support volunteer. We discuss many different issues and concerns including, but not limited to, coming out issues, gender and/or sexuality identities, relationship concerns, bullying, workplace issues, HIV/AIDS anxiety, safer-sex information, suicide, and much more.

The Pediatric Endocrinology team has extensive experience working with transgender and gender diverse youth (TGD). They provide extensive consultation, pubertal blockers, and gender-affirming hormone therapy for TGD youth less than 18 years old.

Kaleidoscope – Center for Family Services
LGBTQIA+ program providing support and guidance to New Jersey teens and young adults. Groups are held in Camden, Essex, Mercer, Morris, and Sussex Counties. Teen group for ages 12-17. Young adult group for ages 18-24.

LGBTQ+ Affirming Healthcare Map
Interactive map and directory of healthcare providers that have proactively identified themselves as LGBTQ-friendly. Some have also been trained by Garden State Equality staff on best practices in LGBTQ+ care. Hosted by Garden State Equality.
LGBTQ+ and Trans Teen Chatrooms
Our moderated chat rooms are for youth ages 19 and younger to talk in a safe space and be able to express themselves without fear of being judged (LGBTQ and separate room for transgender folks). You can discuss concerns, issues, talk about personal victories, or find a calm place to just hang out. All of you get to decide what these rooms are for, and all of you make this community. Operated by LGBT National Help Center.
LifeTies Mentoring for Youth (Mercer, Camden, or Gloucester County)
The LifeTies Mentoring program pairs youth with trained volunteer mentors with the goal to provide the presence of caring adults for youth. Pairing youth with a mentor can support a path to a safe and healthy future. Through Center for Family Services. Services are available to support a variety of needs, including: -youth aged 10-21 (living in Mercer County) who are at-risk or have a minor offense in the juvenile justice system; -youth ages 10-21 in the LGBTQIA+ community; -youth aged 10-17 (living in Camden or Gloucester Counties) who lost a loved one to overdose or youth who have a loved one affected by substance use; -youth aged 10-17 living in Camden City; -youth in the Camden City School District (this opportunity is for school district staff).

Sexual Health Center of Morrisville Medical Center
The Sexual Health Center of Morristown Medical Center provides confidential and individualized services to prevent new sexually transmitted infections, provide early diagnosis and intervention, and connect individuals to treatment when needed. It is a sex-positive, non-judgmental safe space for adults of all ages, genders and cultures, including people who identify as LGBTQ+.
Somerset Treatment Services (STS)
Recovery center and prevention services for people with substance use disorders and HIV/AIDS-related illnesses. Includes group and individual services, NARCAN, parenting group. People can join Strengthening Families parenting group whether or not a parent has a history of a substance use disorder.
