Safe + Sound Somerset Announces New Collaboration with Jewish Women International
Safe+Sound Somerset is pleased to announce our partnership with Jewish Women International (JWI) to provide training to Jewish Community Centers and other Jewish organizations throughout the country. The training, Building Resilience Through Trauma-Informed Strategies, will be presented to youth-serving staff members of Jewish Community Centers in several United States regions.
Alana Blum, Senior Director of Community Response shared, “We were first introduced to Safe + Sound Somerset while working with the Bridgewater Jewish community on addressing domestic violence. Through this partnership, we will equip educators with resources to foster resiliency in children exposed to domestic violence so they can heal and thrive.”
Child resiliency is the ability to adapt to, minimize, and recover from the effects of potentially traumatic events, like witnessing domestic violence.
Participants will acquire the skills, tools, and expertise necessary to create trauma-informed spaces where all children impacted by domestic violence can be supported. The training will cultivate a deeper understanding of the pressing issue of domestic violence and its wide-ranging effects on community members. Specifically, the training will prepare staff to recognize the impacts of domestic violence on children, understand the prevalence of adverse childhood experiences, and utilize trauma-informed strategies to create spaces that promote safety and child resiliency.
Safe + Sound Somerset is scheduled to facilitate its first training this October for an organization in Maine, with additional trainings scheduled in the Central Mountain and Midwest regions. Additional trainings will follow.
